Dr. Vavalis is visiting us from the Mathematics Department,
University of Crete, Greece, where he is an Assistant Professor of
Mathematics. He is also affiliated with the Institute of Applied
and Computational Mathematics, Foundation for Research and
Development Hellas (FORTH) where he holds a position as Researcher.
His main research interests are in the areas of high performance
computing, numerical analysis and mathematical modeling. He is
currently working on developing and analyzing numerical methods for
solving partial differential equations (PDEs), modeling
superconducting devices using Josephson Junctions and investigating
the formation and dispersion of air pollution.
