The InterBase Lab exists to create viable partnerships between business, industry, and university researchers. The InterBase Lab supports database software development and assists businesses and organizations in the development and application of database technology.

The long-term objective of the InterBase Lab is to advance the state-of-the-art in large systems integration. This includes integrating multimedia data and information into a single system, integrating multiple autonomous components into a global system, and utilizing progress in new technologies such as data replicators, data warehouses, multidatabase systems and workflow systems to improve the quality of data. Further, it is the goal of this effort to involve the business processes and interoperability questions in order to improve data consistency and customer satisfaction. Current research includes video data modelling, ubiquitous data and information access, and data reconciliation.
