Wayne R. Dyksen

Associate Professor of Computer Sciences (1984)

B.A., mathematics, Calvin College, 1977; M.S., applied mathematics, Purdue University, 1979; Ph.D., applied mathematics, Purdue University, 1982.

Professor Dyksen's research work began in numerical analysis, especially the solution of partial differential equations including parallel and vector computing, scientific computing, mathematical software, and distributed scientific computing. As part of that work, he is currently publishing TENPACK, an LAPACK-based software library for the computer manipulation of tensor products of matrices. Professor Dyksen's work in mathematical software has expanded to include interactive graphical user interfaces, most notably windowing systems. He has given invited presentations at conferences and companies around the world on the design and implementation of X Window System-based software systems. Professor Dyksen is a founding member of the editorial board of The X Resource: A Practical Journal of the X Window System.
