Mikhail J. Atallah is Professor of Computer Science at Purdue University. He earned his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in1982. In 1985 he received an NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award. Dr. Atallah serves on the editorial boards of SIAM Journal on Computing, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, Information Processing Letters, Computational Geometry: Theory & Applications, International Journal of Computational Geometry & Applications, Parallel Processing Letters, Methods of Logic in Computer Science. He was Guest Editor for a Special Issue of Algorithmica on Computational Geometry, and is an ACM Computing Surveys Guest Associate Editor for its 50th Anniversary. He also serves as Editor of the Handbook of Parallel and Distributed Computing (McGraw-Hill), as Editorial Advisor for the Handbook of Computer Science and Engineering, (CRC Press), and as Editor in Chief for Handbook of Algorithms and Theory of Computation (CRC Press). He was selected to serve on the Program Committees of various conferences and workshops (including ACM Symp. on Computational Geometry, SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms, Workshop on Algorithms and Data Structures, IEEE Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing, IEEE International Parallel Processing Symposium, International Symposium on Algorithms and Computation). He was Invited Speaker at many national and international meetings. He received research funding from NSF, AFOSR, ONR, NIH, AT&T, SUN Microsystems, and Sperry.
